One of the youngest and most celebrated artiste of his native country CAMEROON, Excel Chinepoh aka Xcellente is credited with being one of the key figures in the rise of Cameroon musical sound. His distinctive blend of traditional African music, with a blend of classical RnB and Afropop in English and French influence creates a vibe that is contemporary and universal while maintaining a clear African identity.
Just as he has done with the seemingly effortless balance of commercial success with awe-inspiring critical acclaim, Xcellente, the Cameroonian born, bred, packaged and promoted artist is maintaining his growing status as an authentic brand, highlighting the fact and keeps inspiring millions of young Cameroonians to keep the faith that no matter where one is born, no matter where one is based, world class results can be achieved with hard work and the right attitude.
Born in Bamenda province, Cameroon on the 16th of march 1991 to Mr. and Mrs. Chinepoh, the young man fell in love with music from a tender age, but was advised to study which he equally did, obtaining his ordinary school certificate from Pchs Mankon, and proceeded to go professional as he bagged a professional degree in Marketing (CIM) and an ABE in Business Admin.
In 2008, Xcellente went after his musical dream and recorded the phenomenally successful solo debut in Cameroon; Someday "E go Better", which included the Cameroonian anthem, "E go Better" and shaye which he shot a video for in South Africa in 2010.
THE MAN
Xcellente has dedicated a great amount of time, effort and resources towards reaching out to fellow humans most especially needy Cameroonians. "What we do for ourselves dies with us but what we do for others remains immortal" he posits. He believes also that help is best served quietly. "The important thing is that the beneficiary feels the impact of a good deed. He/she doesn't even need to know the identity of the benefactor but you know sometimes publicists and management won't just let it go unreported", he concludes.
Xcellente loves to swim, dance and listen to good music. He favors African dishes and cherishes the time he spends with his mother and siblings.
THE MUSIC
He is also featured alongside some A-List Artistes including 2face Idibia, P-Square and a host of other prominent stars. Signed currently to Achievas entertainment, a Nigerian entertainment based company that also has fast rising act Solidstar under its label, the label saw the talent in the young Cameroonian when its only act then Solidstar was invited to Cameroon to perform for the President during his anniversary. His previous singles was released in Nigeria in 2011 (MUTINA and MAMA’S RULE) Ft. label mate Solidstar both enjoyed massive air-play and his fan base in Nigeria keep snowballing due to his style of music. His current single is JALAA featuring label mate Solidstar and its on count down on top radio stations in Nigeria and across Africa, turning it into a huge anthem on the street, the video to jalaa has received positive reviews so far from critics and it’s also enjoying massive airplay.
He has collaborated with some big names in the industry from the likes of Iyanya, Solidstar, J.Martins and has plans of working with Flavour, 2Face, P-Square, MI and Ice Prince. According to Xcellente, anyone that is making good music and making money from it is his mentor.
However, Xcellent is not new to receiving accolades as he his recipient of The most promising artist in Cameroon 2009, The artist of the year 2011.
